We wanted to find out if the bed covers were really as clean as hotels like to claim they are. Most people spend time in hotels, and they have a right to expect a clean place to sleep.” What we discovered was shocking and a bit frightening!
The American Funeral Directors Association had sent a group of people to stay in different hotels throughout the country. They scrutinized the cleanliness of the bed covers in each hotel room. The investigators scoured a range of hotels, big and small. What they found next was unbelievable! On many of the bed covers, there were stains, hair and even blood marks. This got us thinking about how many guests had actually slept on these filthy covers. What is a guest sleeping on to stay healthy, guests are hoping to know.
Most hotels claim that they launder their bed covers between each guest. They want to guarantee that every incoming guest has a clean, tidy bed space. But our inquiry revealed that this may not be the case. Some hotels do not wash their bed covers for weeks on end. This means that every visitor to the room could sleep under the same dirty duvet. Think about sleeping on a quilt that has not been washed for ages! It is neither comfortable nor safe for anyone.
Filthy bed sheets are greatly detrimental to the health of guests. Germs and bacteria can easily transfer from one guest to the other via the bedding.
